Technologically-Enhanced Naturally Occurring Radioactive Materials (TENORM) is low-level radiation that exists in nature and has been concentrated with human actions, such as filtering petrochemicals or treating drinking water. Not every state regulates TENORM, but North Dakota and Colorado do (among other states).
